Initial Driver CPC Package - PCV Mod 2 & 4

This package is designed for those who want to drive PCV vehicles professionally. The Driver CPC initial qualification consists of everything you need to pass the two parts, Module 2 and Module 4. When passed, coupled with a full PCV licence, you’ll be issued with a Driver Qualification card by the DVSA, valid for 5 years.

Anyone wishing to take up a career driving a PCV, professional, who passed their car test on or after 1st January 1997 or are under the age of 21, will most likely have to take the Initial Qualification (check to find out if you are exempt first).

The initial Driver CPC Qualification is a UK Government/EU Directive that was introduced to:

  • Improve Road Safety.
  • Underpin and expand driver’s knowledge.
  • Ensure new drivers understand the industry and assist them in their new career as a professional driver.

The Initial Qualification is divided into 2 modules:

Module 2 Case Study Test

A computer-based test consisting of 7 life-like scenarios. There are between 6 to 8 multiple choice questions per scenario of which you must get at least 40 out of 50 correct to pass.

Module 4 Practical Demonstration

This is a practical demonstration test. You will not be required to drive in this test but will be expected to have a good knowledge of the other duties as a driver. This may include daily checks of the vehicle, stopping trafficking of illegal immigrants, emergency situations etc.,

This test consists of 5 topic areas which cover the Driver CPC syllabus. To pass you will have to score a minimum of15 out of 20 in each topic area and an overall score of not less than 80%.

On completion of these 2 modules, coupled with a full PCV licence, you will be issued with your Driver Qualification Card (DQC) which is valid for 5 years. Within these 5 years you will be required to complete 35 hours of Periodic Driver CPC Training to renew your DQC and then every 5 years thereafter.

  • 90 Days of official online case study access - You will receive instant access to the official DVSA training portal which will prepare you for your case study test. You can log in via your PC, Tablet, or Mobile phone as many times you like within the 90 days. This portal contains everything you need to pass your case study test first time.

  • Group training session for the practical test
  • Driver CPC Module 4 Practical Test Fee

Duration:

4-6 weeks, depending on Case Study theory test availability.

The Next Step - within 24 hours of your start date, we will:

  • Contact you as we need your Driving Licence Number, National Insurance Number and the Post Code, as it appears on your driving licence. If you’ve already started/completed your driver training with us, we’ll already have these details.
  • Complete your registration on the DVSA online training portal for your case study, Mod 2.
  • Email you with details of how you can access the portal.
  • We can immediately look towards booking your case study test or wait until you let us know when you feel ready. Note, nothing will be booked without your agreement but please note the lead in time for case study tests is about 2-3 weeks.
  • Arrange your Mod 4, practical CPC training & test. This will involve you going on a short waiting list, with a lead in time of about 2-3 weeks but this can not happen until you have confirmed that you have passed your Mod 2, case study test and given us your case study pass number.
